Version 5.1.3

5.1.3 was released on August 13th, 2017.

Logbook Endorsements, Chapter 15, Section 2

Section two is a new section titled: “Protecting Your CFI Certificate.” This section was added to educate a new instructor on CFI Liability Insurance, AOPA Legal Services, and using affidavits to certify student training. We’re providing access to documents developed by PILOTNICK Publishing for Bi-Annual Flight Reviews, Initial Solo Privileges, and Solo Cross-Country Privileges.

Logbook Endorsements, Chapter 15, Section 3

We’ve added guidance on the Alien Flight Student Program (AFSP) which pertains to teaching international students without a U.S. Passport.

Logbook Endorsements, Chapter 15, Section 4, 5, 6

Corrected outdated endorsement references which were being used from the old canceled AC-61-65E, and replaced with corrected endorsements from AC-61-65F.

Logbook Endorsements, Chapter 15, Section 5

Corrected text at the end of that chapter which stated that the AIM 3-2-3 (b)(2) reference listed “Class B Airspace prohibited to student pilot operations.” This statement was incorrect. The simple act of a student pilot operating within the airspace listed in AIM 3-2-3(b)(2) isn’t prohibited. Specifically what is prohibited, is landing at the primary airport in which the bravo airspace serves, without a minimum certificate level of Private Pilot. Therefore, the prohibited act is landing at one of the listed, without a minimum certificate level of Private Pilot.

Logbook Endorsements, Chapter 15, All Endorsement Sections

Modified formatting to be cleaner and easier to read.

Pre-Flight Procedures, Chapter 21, Section 2

Corrected the PAVE checklist to reflect the correct IMSAFE acronym. We previously had “Eating” listed. This has been replaced with the correct term “Emotion.”
